The Texas Aces Squirt Fausel team showed what playing as a team can do this past weekend. After winning their first game vs. Odessa they went on to a hard fought 3-3 tie with a crafty Bay Area squad. This left a match up with the San Antonio Thunder which always produces a close match. The Aces prevailed 4-1 setting up a rematch in the Championship game with San Antonio. After 3 periods and incredible effort, the Texas Aces Squirts pulled out a 3-0 victory bringing home the hardware. Congratulations on a job well done! |

In the Colorado Cup Tournament the Texas Aces Bantam Sharon team went 5-0: 2-2, 3-3, 5-0, 6-0, 4-3 OT. The Championship game against the Colorado Springs, Jr. TIgers was a tough fought game with the Aces tying the game in the 3rd period. Three minutes into overtime Eric Rowat stuffed a pass from Camden Debonis into the goal for the game winning goal. It was a great hockey tournament with all players contributing. Goalies James Brown and Chris Neukranz played exceptionally solid in all games. We played right by USA Hockey Headquarters and skated two games on the bigger international ice surface. Thanks to all the parents for the wonderful support. Great job!

After going 4-0 in the round robin portion of the tournament, the team entered the championship game on Monday as the #1 seed. In the championship game, against a familiar foe named DJHA, the Aces fell behind early, giving up 2 quick goals to those pesky Penguins. However, this team was not going to be denied the chance to win a championship. The team rallied to score the next 4, including goals from Joey Thomas, Michael Allen, Justin Vollmer and Devin May to take the lead for good. Joey Thomas added an open net goal and the celebration was on. Congratulations to all on a job well done. |
